Here you can read the chronicle of the Historischer Krug.

1519 was a significant year

* 1519 was an important year not only for Oeversee, but also for the world at that time:
Catherine de Medici was born, Ferdinand Magellan began his two-year circumnavigation of the globe, the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés began the Spanish conquest in Mexico and the destruction of the Aztec empire, and the Italian universal genius Leonardo da Vinci also died at the age of 67.

Royal privileged

This hotel is called Kongelig privilegeret Kro. This means that these inns were awarded by the Danish king and used as domiciles by the royal family during excursions and holidays. The Historic Jug is the only royally privileged jug on German soil.

“Historischer Krug” destroyed by major fire

On 30 July 2018, the entire main building of the Historic Jug was destroyed by a major fire.

Here you can see the video of the fire

The reopening

The historic house had burned to the ground in summer 2018. Only half of the former furniture – Danish craftsmanship made of solid wood – could be saved.

Since 2020, the main house has been standing again, and it is considered the oldest jug in Schleswig-Holstein.
